A Character Sheet for Every Student: Step Two of Gaming the Classroom
This character sheet will accompany the syllabus in my last post. Like the syllabus, the character sheet was made using Comic Life. Below the image is a document version of the sheet and a pdf version. Feel free to use them.
Here is a pdf version of the character sheet.

These rock! Can you add a link to a pdf version? The font is a bit small on these images.
I’m very interested in you XP/Credits economy and how it will work. Looks like cool stuff. Can students change their Belief every class?
Scott,
It is so cool for you to stop by again. I am completely humbled to be in your blogroll. I just listened to your Zombie Cinemaepisode…good stuff.
Well, I am going to have the PDFs up tomorrow if all goes well. That was a good idea. Thanks.
As for the way the game/classroom will work, here is how I am leaning thus far:
–XP is earned pretty much like regular grades are in school.
–XP can also be earned through doing enrichment assignments.
–Once a kid has 70% of the quarter’s 400 possible points, he may “Bank” some of his XP for later or for immediate rewards other than the particular assignment that earned those particular “banked” points.
–Students record how they spend banked points because they cannot repeat how they spent them in that same quarter.
–Risk credits are for working outside of one’s Multiple Intelligence or Personality Comfort Zone. (M.I. and Sloan on the Sheet)
–Honor Credits are bonuses for acting with honor…either using my definition of honor or by noticing a kid living by his or her belief.
Now, I must say. I am not certain how credits will be awarded versus straight up XP, but I want that reward system to be different. It doesn’t have to relate to grades.
–Badges are for symbolizing levelling-up or anything else I want to reinforce. Stickers seem to please just fine.
I am completely open to any ideas that might be better.
Thanks again for your interest, and thanks for pointing me to Xtranormal. That is cool stuff…using it tomorrow in class to analyze a Billy Mays ad.
I’m currently using the software to create character sheets for the kids in my confirmation class. I know this is an old post, but still, very cool.
Oh, that is cool. We will have to talk about it. I have already realized things that I will do differently next year, but that is part of the process.
